{"id":1516,"date":"2016-02-05T13:08:49","date_gmt":"2016-02-05T13:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tekhead.org\/blog\/?p=1516"},"modified":"2016-03-06T22:02:06","modified_gmt":"2016-03-06T22:02:06","slug":"end-of-an-era-for-lonvmug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tekhead.it\/blog\/2016\/02\/end-of-an-era-for-lonvmug\/","title":{"rendered":"End of an Era for #LonVMUG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I will keep this post short and to the point, and will do my best to try not to sound too sycophantic!<\/p>\n<p>I just wanted to publicly thank <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alaricdavies\" target=\"_blank\">Alaric Davies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Rimmergram\" target=\"_blank\">Jane Rimmer<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Virtual_Stu\" target=\"_blank\">Stu Thompson<\/a> for their years of hard work and service to the London and UK VMUGs and all of their members (and of course, not forgetting <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/vinf_net\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Gallagher<\/a> who is staying on to steer the ship). Were it not for a chance meeting with Mr Davies at a tech event in Leeds some years ago, I personally would know a <em>lot<\/em> less, have met far fewer <em>awesome<\/em> people and be in a completely different place in my career right now.<\/p>\n<p>The London and UK VMUGs have had a real impact on the careers of many people I know over the past few years and I hope they continue to do so for years to come!<\/p>\n<p>So thank you very much all of you for your immense efforts and the hundreds of hours of your own time you have dedicated over the years&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1519 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tekhead.org\/wp-uploads\/www.tekhead.org\/2016\/02\/VMUGLeaders.jpg\" alt=\"Team Awesome\" width=\"450\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tekhead.it\/wp-uploads\/www.tekhead.org\/2016\/02\/VMUGLeaders.jpg 450w, https:\/\/tekhead.it\/wp-uploads\/www.tekhead.org\/2016\/02\/VMUGLeaders-150x103.jpg 150w, https:\/\/tekhead.it\/wp-uploads\/www.tekhead.org\/2016\/02\/VMUGLeaders-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lastly best of luck to the new VMUG leadership team members <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VirtualGirlGK\" target=\"_blank\">Linda<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bfd_diplomacy\" target=\"_blank\">Dave<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrisDearden\" target=\"_blank\">Chris<\/a>, who along with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/vinf_net\" target=\"_blank\">Simon<\/a> I have every confidence that the torch will be carried on without so much as a splutter!<\/p>\n<p>If you want to get involved in the VMUG community as an attendee (and perhaps one day as a speaker), I strongly recommend popping along to your nearest meeting. You will definitely come away with a lot more than just the instructions on how to upgrade vSphere from 5.1 to 6.0! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>The next <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vmug.com\/london\" target=\"_blank\">London VMUG<\/a> is on the 14th of April at Tech UK, 10 Saint Bride Street, EC4A.
